Camera Usage
The camera is used exclusively to scan ISBN barcodes on the back of physical books. No photos are taken, no images are stored, and no video is recorded. The camera is only active on the barcode scanner screen.
ISBN Book Lookups
When you scan or type an ISBN number, only that ISBN number is sent to Google Books API or Open Library API to retrieve book information (title, author, cover image). No personal data, device identifiers, or usage information is transmitted with these requests.
No Ads. No Tracking. No Analytics.
Capybara Kids Library contains no advertisements, no analytics SDKs, no third-party tracking, and no social media integrations. We do not collect usage data or behavioral information of any kind.
Information We Collect
The app asks for a first name during setup (used only for display within the app, e.g., "Dhyuthi's Library"). An optional email field exists in Settings for the user's own reference — it is stored locally and never transmitted anywhere.
Book Recommendations & Affiliate Links
The "You may also like" section on book detail pages shows recommendations from Open Library and links to Amazon search results. These links open in your device's browser. We participate in the Amazon Associates program and may earn a small commission at no cost to you. No personal data is shared with Amazon through these links.
Backup & Restore
You can export your library as a .cbl backup file via the iOS share sheet. This file stays on your device or wherever you choose to save it — we have no access to it. Importing a backup is done via the document picker and processed entirely on-device.
Deleting Your Data
You can delete all data at any time from Settings → "Reset Library & Start Fresh." This permanently removes all books, reviews, and profile information from your device. Since no data is stored remotely, deletion is immediate and complete.
Families & Children
This app is designed to be used by families. It does not collect, use, or disclose personal information from children. There are no in-app purchases, no social features, no messaging, and no user-generated content visible to others. The app functions fully offline except for optional ISBN lookups.
